May Astrology Forecast 2026
A Scorpio Full Moon and Taurus New Moon focus us on what matters most while another Sagittarius Full Moon brings up the rear - time to blow this whole thing out of the water!
May is a powerful month of transformation and change.
Scorpio kicks things off impressing upon us that the times are a-changing and there is no going back. Then Uranus takes over, newly in Gemini, to make sure we're inundated with so many new and exciting options we wouldn't want to go back anyway!
This month features two (yes 2!) Full Moons. We've started with an amazing Scorpio Full Moon on May 1st. And we will end with a Sagittarius Full Moon (Blue Moon) on the 31st.
Taurus holds fast the middle with a solid Taurus New Moon mid-May back to back with a Full Mercury that brings great clarity and allows our newly founded values to gain traction.
Just in time for the Uranian fireworks in the sky!
Here's the May astrology lowdown...
Scorpio Full Moon May 1st: Let the Transformation Begin...
May begins on a high note with a Scorpio Full Moon at 12° Scorpio, on May 1st at 17:23 UT.
This is a transformative lunation when seeds planted last November finally reach their full fruition, allowing you to move on and make sense of the past six months.
With Venus sextile Saturn and Mercury conjunct Chiron on the day, this is an opportunity to commit to the values and people of your choosing. Honesty is crucial: time to face up to uncomfortable truths, reintegrate them into the personality, and move on.
The Full Moon is widely square Pluto and trine Jupiter too opening the sluices wide for a full, controlled expression of power and feeling, and for Scorpio's transformative energies to flow in abundance.

Mercury in Taurus May 3rd-17th: Words of Substance
On May 3rd, Mercury enters Taurus to stay until May 17th. Mercury in taurus loves how words feel.... Perhaps time to roll words a few times in that mouth before they are uttered.
Mercury in Taurus is a good time to think about practical matters, organise finances, possessions, and other concrete things, making concrete plans.
Make solid decisions. Consolidate those plans.
Pluto Stations Retrograde May 6th: Time to Process...
By May 6th Pluto stations retrograde, impressing upon us all an air of inevitability when it comes to the forward march of events.
Time to get with the programme and begin internalising changes.
These are tense days at the start of May, aided by Mars square Jupiter on the 5th and Mercury square Pluto on the 6th.
We may be tempted to bite off more than we can chew right now, but we can truly push the boat out and accomplish a lot - so long as we cut no corners.
Concentration is high, thankfully, as is the urge to look beneath every nook and cranny and not miss a trick.
On the 6th Mercury harmonises with the Lunar Nodes, bringing through important communications.
Last Quarter Moon in Aquarius, May 10th: Make Sense of Things
The first week of May ends with a last quarter Moon in Aquarius on May 10th.
Time to leave the past behind and try to understand where we stand in the greater scheme of things.
By Monday, May 11th, the Sun sextiles Jupiter, a lovely vibe. This is an opportunity for greater perspective, growth, optimism, and to glean some meaning on the path.
Full Mercury and New Moon, May 14th-16th: A Clear New Start Loud as a Bell!
The next big news arrives mid-month, when we have a Taurus New Moon on May 16th, on the back of a Taurus 'Full Mercury' (i.e. Sun-Mercury direct conjunction) on May 14th, all rolled into one!
This is a fabulous combination - aided even more by the fact that Jupiter is still hovering nearby sextile the Sun, Moon and Mercury too. While the Sun connects with Jupiter on the 11th, Mercury's sextile to Jupiter arrives on the 13th.
These days form a wide runway for take off - a chance to uplift thoughts and expand options.
Let's look at these more closely.
Mercury Superior Conjunction, May 14th: Real Clarity
May 14th brings us Mercury's so called "superior" conjunction at 24° Taurus at 14:24 UT. This is when Mercury conjuncts the Sun whilst direct and at full speed, making his way super-quickly around the far side of the sun.
This is effectively a "Full Mercury" - a moment of clarity when the implications of our thinking is revealed to us in full bloom, to see, touch, feel.
This Full Mercury takes place in Taurus so we will be thinking a lot about our values and preferences, and of tangible, practical and financial matters.
Time to assess our quality of life and decide on the things that bring us greater pleasure, safety and comfort.
This moment resolves preoccupations that may have had us muddled since the last Mercury retrograde in Pisces this March.
But it is also the culmination of a much deeper cycle of mental processes that was seeded back in 2022-23 with Mercury retrograde in Taurus.
What intellectual goodies or trophies do you have to show for the past four-year period? What are you now in a position to better understand?
While the past few weeks may be at the forefront of our minds, the past four years may hide their secrets deeper.
Perhaps this is a good time to journal and see what terrain our minds have travelled since the Spring of 2022.
Taurus 24° Full Mercury Sabian Symbol for Contemplation: An Indian warrior riding fiercely, human scalps hanging from his belt.
Taurus New Moon Supermoon May 16th: What's of Value?
It is in this climate that the May New Moon arrives at 26° Taurus at 20:01 UT.
This is a lovely New Moon, sextile Jupiter in Cancer, bringing an opportunity for growth, expansion and a more positive outlook on life.
Time to court what you desire!
The Moon is close to the earth - a Supermoon - and in its sign of exaltation (Taurus), with Jupiter also strong in Cancer (the Moon's sign), this lunation galvanises the self-preservation instincts.
The urge for protection is strong now as is the need to safeguard precious resources.
This is the perfect time to plant seeds for greater abundance, security and comfort.
Money is a big theme, as is, on a deeper level, energy, fuel, goods, and everything that’s at the core of a sustainably good quality of life. With the Sun and Moon exactly conjunct the asteroid Ceres too, it’s all about the resources that sustain life.
Mercury conjuncts the New Moon, opening communication channels to establish the necessary networks, trade deals and agreements to consolidate strength and affluence.
While this is a great Moon for pleasure and profit, the seeds now planted hold real potential for healing and integration - for a more liberated and authentic life.
Venus (ruler of this New Moon) sextiles Eris and Chiron on the 15th-17th May, exposing past hurts that may have taken certain parts of ourselves out of the playing field.
This is a chance to welcome exiled parts of ourselves back into the fold.
This is especially so as Mars is also activating that same Eris-Chiron combo from May 13th all the way until the 16th. This is bound to poke old hurts, and expose festering wounds, slights and regrets that are ripe for healing.
Rather than lashing out under these triggering aspects, this is a chance to reframe the past and reclaim any lost courage and sovereignty.
If there is anything that's been a constant drag on our energy, ignored, ailing and limping along, this Moon is a good chance to tackle it.

Mercury in Gemini May 17th - June 1st: Liberate your thinking!
One day after the New Moon, on May 17th, Mercury enters Gemini, his home turf.
Time to connect and network, learn, share and exchange ideas - all in the free and non-committal spirit of connectivity and information gathering.
Expect your neural networks to fire in the reds! For, while this transit happens once a year, this time it’s different: Mercury conjuncts the newly gallivanting Uranus in Gemini on the 18th!
Uranus and Mercury's order of business? To upgrade our nervous system to process life at higher and multi-lateral speed!
Mercury conjuncts Uranus on the 18th, followed by a sextile to Neptune on the 19th and a trine to Pluto on the 20th. These are the planets that signal a mini renaissance for the human spirit now and until 2028.
Raise your antennae and be ready to receive!
As you know, ideas have a life of their own. And right now there's some amazing ones floating about simply waiting for some good receptive wiring.
With Mercury square the Lunar Nodes on the 19th too, this could be seminal information waiting to be revealed.
By the 22nd, Mercury finally sextiles Saturn grounding this effervescent energy.
That’s the moment to pick up the most practicable idea and run with it.
Mars in Taurus & Venus in Cancer, May 19th: Bring It In House!
There is also a beautiful dance this month between Mars and Venus.
These two are in harmony, reaching perfect sync by May 18th-19th, when Mars enters Taurus and Venus enters Cancer in perfect sextile to each other. A passionate moment!
Be ready for a change of pace from the 19th onwards, with greater sensuality, sentimentality and romance replacing the faster more detached pace of the previous six weeks.
Taurus and Cancer are both homebodies.
Pleasure is now to be found in a loving home, in family get togethers, in purchasing quality items (preferably pre-loved), in enjoying exquisite food, and, above all, in exclusive gatherings and familiar circles.
With Venus approaching a square to Neptune too, the 21st- 22nd could be a romantic, if a little wistful and nostalgic time.
Venus stays in Cancer until June 13th. Mars stays in Taurus until June 28th.
Sun enters Gemini May 21st: Explore it all!
Gemini season enters on the 21st (00:36 UT) with the Sun's entry into Gemini.
Happy Birthday Gemini!
We’re now in late spring (in the northern hemisphere), with a whole host of temptations tantalising the senses. Nature is blooming in all its glory, in a transient state, and doesn’t want to miss a thing!
This is the time to sample everything, experiment, stay curious and explore different options. And, boy, there are some new options this year straight out of left field!
The Sun’s first order of business in Gemini is to meet with Uranus, on the 22nd. This is the first time these two conjunct in Gemini since the 1940s, and they are blowing the playing field wide open.
Best stay non-committal and eager to explore. What seems exciting today may prove a flash in the pan by tomorrow.
If progress is a moving target, it's currently a blur... Keep light on those feet!
First Quarter Moon in Virgo May 23rd: Call to Meticulous Action
By the 23rd, the May New Moon reaches First Quarter and we’re called to action.
A waxing half-moon tends to present challenges which call for an immediate response. These in turn incur commitments and momentum starts building...
As this is the half-way point between this year's eclipses too, choices matter!
With Venus square Neptune on the 22nd our spectacles may be rather pinkish as we try to assess one path over another. Disappointment could also be in the mix.
Hearts may be wistful... But Mercury's sextile with Saturn also on the 22nd helps ground the mind...
Sun squares the Eclipse Points, May 25th: Choice Point!
By May 25th-26th, it’s clear that we are at an important crossroads
That's when the Sun squares the Lunar Nodes a.k.a. the points where the eclipses happen.
With Venus and Mars also linking with the Nodes - Venus on the 23rd and Mars on the 25th - we have a few days of important decision making toward the latter half of May.
The 25th-26th also sees the Sun sextile Neptune and trine Pluto. This completes the Big Three (Uranus-Neptune-Pluto) that are pioneering a brand new path for us all - building a new world that we are still learning to operate in.
This is a moment for powerful initiatives.
For Mars is also in the mix, aligned with the Nodes and square to Pluto on the 26th.
These days may feel like an inexorable force pushing us toward some unknown yet necessary end.
But they are also days when we can accomplish great feats.
Let inspiration flow from May 21st and strive to chart a course into the unknown.
With Venus-Neptune active too, we may have no choice but to aim for some ill-formed romantic ideal to begin with as we navigate this decision-making process.
But reality calls.
As Venus advances toward a square to Saturn on May 29th a real commitment will be required to make the romantic dream a reality.
Sagittarius Full Moon MicroMoon May 31st: A Wider Field of Opportunity!
May is a twin-peak month as we have a second Full Moon (a Blue Moon of sorts) on May 31st - this time in Sagittarius at 10° at 09:45 BST.
Things put into motion just before last Xmas now reveal their full import.
This Full Moon is a Micromoon - i.e. at the furthest point from the earth - and far enough for a bird's eye view of the whole playing field for the best opportunities on offer!
The Sun and Moon square the Lunar Nodes, impressing upon us that we are at the midpoint of this year’s eclipses. Time to see the full extent of our choices so far and make some new ones from this new vantage point.
The Full Moon is opposite Uranus, trine Neptune and sextile Pluto, opening the doors the powerful forces now remoulding and reshaping our world.
The end of May could well be full of surprises!
On thing is certain: adventure beckons!
Be it a new business venture, a romantic leap of faith, travel or relocation, major outreach or public exposure, a new course of study, a bold new marketing (or propaganda!) push - or whatever widens your horizons and expands your playing field.
That's what Sagittarius is all about. Having the vision - and the itch - to gallop over the hills and far away!
What’s your vision for the future?
Staying authentic in thought and speech is key now, as Mercury is active once more (as he was at the May 1st Full Moon), sextile Eris and Chiron May 30th-June 1st.
If the crazy half-horse has galloped away with the carriage, speak your truth, seek honesty and connect the ignored dots for a fuller picture.
That’s the antidote.
